About Night Strider 2011
Night Strider returns for a third successive year on Friday 17th June at Taunton Racecourse.
Join the girls for this fun filled evening where we challenge you to complete as many laps of Taunton Racecourse's 1.2 mile circuit as you can! Choosing how many laps of the racecourse you do means that this is a perfect challenge for women of all ages and fitness levels.
Last year's event saw 300 ladies clock up a total of 1425 laps or 1700 miles - the equivalent of walking from Lands End to John o'Groats and back again! They also raised over £24,000 along the way! We hope you can join us this year to help set a new Night Strider all time best.

ON THE NIGHT
Night Strider will be staged at Taunton Racecourse. The inner circuit of the racecourse is approx 1.2 miles. It is a flat and reasonably even circuit using the emergency vehicle access roadway. Strong shoes and loose clothing are recommended including appropriate gear for wet weather or cold.
Although the route will have nominal lighting, it is strongly advised that you bring a torch with you for safety. We recommend either a hand held or head mounted flashlight of good power. This will also add to the atmosphere of the walk as darkness descends and a trail of light appears around the route.
Please feel free to dress up or dress down for the evening! We will have on sale a wide range of glow in the dark items to make the event really sparkle!
You can do as many or as few laps of the course as you wish within the 3 hour time frame. It is not a race and running is not allowed at any time for safety reasons. We will provide adequate drink stations, toilet facilities and emergency cover for the event.
GIRL POWERED PARTY!
Throughout the evening a number of live bands will be playing on the Night Strider stage which creates a real party atmosphere! Our host for the night, BBC Somerset's Emma Britton, will be hosting the evening and keeping you all motivated to keep clocking up the laps for St. Margaret's!
At midnight, when the walking is done, it's time to party if you muster just that little bit more energy! Local band Man From Funkle will be taking to the stage to provide an ecclectic mix of modern pop and rock, seventies disco and funk and soul and R'n'B. Celebrate your achievements and enjoy the unique festival atmosphere.
CAMP
If you wish to pitch your tent and stay overnight in the Night Strider campsite, please book in advance. There is plenty of room at the racecourse and you can soak up the atmosphere all night long! Refreshments will be available and a licensed bar will be on site. (Normal licensing regulations will apply and no alcohol will be served during the walk).
To pitch your tent will cost just £5 per person and we ask you to be clear of the site by 11am the next day.
